Advisory Board

The Advisory Board is a collection of special individuals who bring unique knowledge and skills which complement the knowledge and skills of management.

The members were selected for their expertise in science, engineering, medicine, marketing and management.

The Advisory Board does not have formal authority to govern.  Rather, the advisory group serves to make recommendations and provide information and materials to the formal Board of Directors.

Albert Behr
Albert Behr, in his 20 years of professional experience, has led both the financing and operational execution of some of North America and Asia’s most famous technology companies.  Prior to his current work of assisting/funding numerous technology companies at the executive and board-level through his company, Behr & Associates Inc. and acting as Judge for the Canadian Fast 50 Technology Awards, Mr. Behr was involved in Investment Banking funding and operationally driving some of the most promising technology firms in Canada. 

He assisted in the funding and performed the function of Chief Strategy Officer for BorderWare Technologies, a leading vendor of network security products.  Mr. Behr has also performed the role of COO of NRG Group, a TSE-listed venture capital firm with assets under management of approximately $20 million. Before that, he was VP Marketing and Product Management for Platform Computing Corporation, a $70 million Toronto-based enterprise load-balancing software firm.

James Christopher
James Christopher is a senior executive with 25 years of experience in the international technology industry, particularly in the creative, communication and collaboration solutions sector. James’ expertise is in sales, marketing and channel development, and in the leadership and growth of related services businesses.

James is currently engaged in consulting to small enterprises on “to market” strategies, global channels development and funding. His past positions include VP, Global Services for Platform Computing where he was responsible for all service offerings including maintenance (support and software development), professional services and training; and VP, Global Services for Alias, where he led a $40+ million business, with full P&L responsibility for all services including consulting, maintenance, education and publishing, onto a fast-growth track.

Prior to Alias, James was Director, National Channels for SGI Canada and prior to that held progressively senior positions in sales and marketing for Apple Canada.

Larry Philps (MASc, P.Eng)
Larry Philps has over 25 years of experience in the software industry across a wide variety of industries and markets and possesses an extremely deep and broad technical background. He has extensive experience in crafting strategies and development plans that will both achieve business objectives and be achievable technically given (the inevitable) time and resource constraints present in the real world.

Past positions include Director of New Product Initiatives and Director of Research and User Experience at Autodesk, Director of New Product Development at Alias and Manager, Strategic ISV Accounts at the Santa Cruz Operation.

At Alias, Larry was part of the engineering management team that created the Maya® animation system, which is now used for special effects in virtually every Hollywood movie. The Maya software was awarded an Oscar® in 2003 for changing the way movies are made.

Max Raemy 
Spatial View will draw on Mr. Raemy’s vital knowledge in finance and auditing. A Swiss certified public accountant with a master’s degree in economics, Mr. Raemy will provide invaluable counsel to Spatial View. He has been the head of Internal Audit with the Julius Baer Group since 1988, after spending 13 years with Price Waterhouse Coopers as an external auditor.

Joanne Rusnell (LL.B., B.A., ICD.D)
Joanne Rusnell is a senior executive with 28 years of experience in strategy, corporate development, finance, law, operations and governance. Her career includes experience in multiple industries from technology and entertainment to brewing and food.

Past positions include Vice President, General Counsel and CFO of Alias, the leading developer of 3d computer graphics software for the global entertainment and design markets, where she was a key member of the management team that planned and executed Alias’ business turnaround; Vice President of SkyDome, Toronto’s world-famous baseball stadium, where she led the financial restructuring of the facility through insolvency under the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act, and a series of progressively senior legal and corporate development roles at John Labatt Limited.
